Reference Manual SK16 Page: 9 Mounting MOTOMAN ROBOTICS
AB
5.  Mounting 5.1  General The robot can be delivered in three different performance: floor-, wall-
and ceiling mounting.
For wall-mounted types, S-axis working range is restricted to ±30°
and S-axis should be provided with a brake.
For wall- and ceiling-mounted types, the robot should be mounted
with four M16 hexagon socket head cap bolts with tensile strenght of
1200 N/mm² or higher. The tightening torque should be 210 Nm.
For wall- and ceiling-mounted types, it is necessary to insure that the
mounting can support the weight of the manipulator.
Since installation environment has an effect on the positioning
accuracy and the life of robot, the robot should be installed under the
following prace.
-0°C to +45°C (Ambient temperature).
-Free from corrosive gases or liquid, or explosive gases.
-Free from excessive vibration.
-Free from large electrical noise (plasma).
5.2  Safety The MOTOMAN-SK16 should be firmly mounted on a baseplate or
foundation strong enough to support the robot and withstand
repulsion force during acceleration and deceleration. See also
chapter 2.3.
4 Install the safety guards before operating the machin.
4 Don’t start the robot without it is firmly mounted on the floor.
4 Install the robot in a place where the robot with full arm length won’t
reach walls, safety guards or the controller. 4 Don’t install a robot which is damaged or where parts are missing.
4 Check that the shipping bolts and jigs have been removed.
The safety fencing shall fulfill the demands in the EC-directive. 5.3  Robot placed on a common base The common base should be in good quality and resistance. The
surface shall be rugged to increase the friction between robot and
baseplate, this to avoid the robot to move during operation. The
thickness of the common base should be at least 40 mm. Mount the
baseplate to the floor with M16-anchor bolt.
